If you’ve been searching for an LGBTQ therapist near me, Ona brings lived understanding to the work. As a Black queer therapist who is also navigating chronic illness, Ona understands how challenging it can be to seek help from health care systems while holding multiple marginalized identities. She has helped clients handle systems that try to keep them out while building community and support systems. Ona is passionate about helping LGBTQIA+ clients and others improve their self-advocacy skills so they feel seen and understood in their daily lives.
Ona utilizes different modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Family Systems, and Psychodynamic approaches, to create individualized treatment for each client. She believes in collaborating with clients to create the best outcomes for change, and she creates a positive, empowering, non-judgmental space so change doesn’t feel overwhelming.
Ona is a great fit if you’re looking for help navigating chronic illness or chronic pain, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), trauma, relationship conflict, or LGBTQIA+ identities. She also supports clients managing depression, anxiety, and stress, creating sustainable life changes, building self-esteem, moving through career or life transitions, navigating complex family relationships, and advocating for themselves in professional, interpersonal, and medical settings. Ona works with women and also offers therapy for men.
Ona has a Master’s degree from Chestnut Hill College in Clinical and Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Diverse and Underserved Communities. She holds two bachelor’s degrees from West Chester University, in Psychology and in Women’s and Gender Studies. She has experience working in community mental health, serving low-income, predominantly BIPOC communities in Philadelphia.
Ona is supervised by Nicola Pierre-Smith, LPC and offers both in-person and online therapy appointments.
