Jisu Pyo

Jisu Pyo, LAPC

Jisu Pyo (She/her) is a Korean-American Therapist in Pennsylvania who specializes in supporting clients navigating anxiety, depression, emotional challenges, identity concerns, relationships, and major life transitions.

Jisu is passionate about breaking down mental health stigma when providing therapy for Asian-Americans and People of Color. She specializes in therapy for:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Difficulty managing emotions
  • Grief and loss
  • Self-esteem and identity concerns
  • Relationship and family challenges
  • Academic, career, and life transitions
  • First-generation and bicultural experiences
  • Teenagers facing academic, emotional, or social challenges

As a Korean-American therapist, Jisu understands the challenges of navigating cultural identity, intergenerational expectations, and finding a sense of belonging. Her lived experience as an immigrant to the United States as a child informs her deep commitment to supporting Black and Asian-American communities as they explore identity, self-worth, and the balance between cultures.

Jisu is fluent in both Korean and English. While she primarily provides counseling in English, she welcomes clients who may feel more comfortable expressing certain thoughts or emotions in Korean.

Jisu believes therapy can be a powerful space for healing, growth, and self-discovery. Her work is grounded in trauma-informed and multicultural approaches, which she tailors to meet the needs of each unique client. She also integrates mindfulness-based practices and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in a warm, non-judgmental, and compassionate way.

This allows clients who work with her to feel seen, validated, and empowered to heal and grow at their own pace.

Jisu earned her Master of Science in Community and Trauma Counseling from Thomas Jefferson University, where she focused on working with diverse and underserved communities. She has experience supporting adolescents, emergent adults, and families from multicultural backgrounds in the high school and outpatient settings. Jisu is supervised by Nicola Pierre-Smith, LPC.

Jisu offers appointments in-person on Saturdays. She also offers virtual therapy throughout Pennsylvania weekday evenings.

Jisu has immediate income-based sliding scale availability. That is, if your annual income is below $45,000 and she is not in-network with your insurance, the sliding scale rate for each Individual Therapy appointment is $95.
