Florence Kyomuhendo (cho-moo-hen-do), LAPC is a trauma-informed therapist in Philadelphia, PA. She specializes in supporting clients in naming, accessing, and processing emotions that cause them to feel trapped or disconnected in the aftermath of trauma. Florence has a specialization in art therapy for clients who prefer creative expression as a pathway to healing. However, her therapeutic approach integrates person-centered therapy, emotionally focused therapy, narrative therapy, and creative arts therapy, in her work with children, teens, and adults.

As a Ugandan immigrant who acclimated to life in the United States during adolescence, Florence brings a culturally informed and nuanced perspective to her work with immigrants. While she primarily provides therapy in English, she also understands Northern Ugandan dialects (Luo) and Central Ugandan language (Luganda), which can be used to support cultural connection and understanding in sessions.

Florence has undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Art from Penn State University, and completed her graduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania and Thomas Jefferson University. Her graduate degree focused on counseling, mental health services, community and trauma counseling, with a concentration in art therapy.
