Catriana Pineiro
Catriana Pineiro, LAPC, helps adults and teens navigate anxiety, life transitions, grief, self-esteem, academic stress, and identity-related challenges. Whether you’re feeling stuck in negative thought patterns, struggling with burnout, or working through big life changes, Catriana offers a supportive, non-judgmental space to explore your emotions and move toward healing.
They are a great fit for clients navigating:
- Anxiety and overthinking
- Self-esteem and body image issues
- Grief and loss
- Academic or career stress
- Stress related to first generation lived experiences and cultural dynamics
- Relationship and family tension
- Workplace stress and microaggressions
- Gender and sexuality
- Life transitions or feeling “in-between” place/space/phase.
Catriana uses an integrative approach that blends Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and person-centered care within a culturally affirming and trauma-informed framework. Their work is grounded in empathy, emotional safety, and curiosity — not shame. You’ll never have to over-explain your culture, your queerness, or your lived experience to be understood by Catriana.
As a Latine therapist with South American and Puerto Rican heritage, Catriana brings a deep understanding of the emotional toll that comes with holding multiple identities. They’re passionate about supporting first-generation individuals, LGBTQ+ clients, and those with bicultural or multicultural identities, especially when those experiences intersect with mental health stigma, family expectations, or feelings of not belonging.
They also support teens and college students, especially those working through self-worth, identity formation, academic pressure, or adjusting to life transitions. If you’re a parent looking for a therapist who understands how layered these experiences can be for young people of color, Catriana may be a great match.
Catriana holds a Master of Science in Clinical Counseling from Chestnut Hill College, with a specialization in Child and Adolescent Therapy, and a Master of Arts in Psychology from NYU. They’ve provided trauma-informed care to clients across the lifespan in community mental health settings, bringing warmth, nuance, and cultural sensitivity to every session.
Catriana is supervised by Nicola Pierre-Smith, LPC and has the ability to schedule in-person therapy and online therapy appointments.
Catriana is in-network with Aetna, Anthem, Capital Blue Cross, Highmark, Federal Employee Program, and certain Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO insurance plans. They also have immediate income-based sliding scale availability for new clients with an annual income below $45,000. The sliding scale rate is $95.
