Tamara Austin, LSW

Tamara Austin is a Licensed Social Worker in Pennsylvania with over 20 years of experience as a mental health therapist. She identifies as a Black Queer Woman and works with clients to help them claim their space in the world unapologetically.

Tamara is a great fit for you if you are navigating life transitions due to grief and loss, career change, pregnancy, or aging. She will help you resolve adjustment stressors and struggles with your new identity, and help you find new perspectives regarding work, relationships, and other significant aspects of your daily life. Tamara is passionate about helping individuals heal from trauma and other emotionally painful experiences that contribute to signs for depression, signs for anxiety, and relationship problems.

Tamara will help you move from a space where you are feeling frozen or “stuck” and confused, towards a place where you are making more decisions based on clarity or confidence, and are energized about the possibilities for your life.

Tamara takes an intersectional approach to mental health therapy. This intersectional therapy approach looks at how all of your identities inform your decision making and the coping skills you use to survive your lived experiences. People who receive individual therapy from Tamara discover and engage in the action of developing the best life for them to thrive.

Tamara has a Social Justice Certification from Emory University, a Masters of Science from UPENN, and a Certification in Advanced Clinical Practice and Forensic Mental Health from New York University.

She provides virtual therapy in the Philadelphia area and has individual therapy appointments available on weekdays, Saturdays, and Sundays for your convenience.
